David Mardigian, MCM Management Group CEO, has proven to be an avid and loyal supporter of GM Products. Through the years, David has demonstrated his stance by not only purchasing GM products, but also by encouraging his family, friends and employees to do so. Mardigian has gone so far as to implement an incentive program within his industrial services company, giving any employee who buys a GM product $1,000 back. Through this initiative, he’s sold over 100 GM vehicles in the last five years.
David, who currently owns a 2007 Z06, is a firm believer in our product and makes his position known. He said, “If the Corvette isn’t what America’s all about, then there’s no car or symbol that is. It’s the reason to get you license and the reason for you first job. Now, when I drive down Woodward Avenue, the $175,000 Ferraris don’t dare race me. There’s nothing like American technology and American manufacturing.”
David’s son and MCM President Robert Mardigian’s car of choice is our XLR-V. He said, “The car demonstrates excellence. I really like the convertible hardtop and styling.”
When David’s good friend and seven-time world champion professional boxer Thomas Hearns stopped by his house recently, they quickly found themselves talking “Corvette”. Realizing that it has been a while since Thomas’ last Corvette purchase, David thought it was time for both of them to visit the place where Corvettes come to life – Bowling Green Assembly.
On Thursday, March 6, David and Thomas, otherwise known as “Hit Man Hearns” and The Motor City Cobra”, visited the plant, accompanied by friends and employees. Before the tour began, David said, “The pride this plant takes in it product shows at the dealership. The roots you’ve built go outside these four walls. That’s why I wanted to come here – to see what this place is all about.”
Although it’s been a few years since Thomas bought his last Corvette, his love for the car remains. He bought his first Corvette in 1971, and then in 1982 one could say he made quite a purchase. He went to a dealership to buy one Silver Anniversary Corvette, and he walked out with ten, keeping one for himself and giving the remaining nine to friends. Thomas said, “We were all single then. You talk about an ‘attention getter’ for single men!’
After touring the plant, Thomas was sold. “Wow; that was awesome. The car is dynamic. I gotta have one now,” Thomas said after a ride with Vehicle Chief Engineer Jim Danahy.
The crew said again and again how impressed they were, not only with our products, but our people and process. Thomas said, “This is just wonderful ... to see how this car comes together. You can’t learn about this in school. It takes a lot of people to make a car like this happen.”
David summed it all up before leaving, “We love your cars; we love your people.”
Thanks, David, Thomas and the rest of the crew for visiting our facility. We’ll see you soon in your new Vettes!
